War crime is a big word. I didn’t rape and kill anybody, but yeah, I shot at random civilian targets sometimes, just for fun, so yeah.

Indiscriminate shelling, bulldozing Palestinian neighborhoods block by block, firing at random civilians to improve aim and combat boredom and even considering anyone a combatant, armed and dangerous or not; these are some of “the most permissive” rules of engagement that prevailed as the rule on the ground during Israel’s offensive into Gaza last year.

A group of Israeli veterans from the conflict, calling themselves “Breaking the Silence”, have testified to a myriad of crimes, either witnessed or perpetrated, during Operation Protective Edge. The campaign left 18,000 homes destroyed and killed over 2,100 Palestinians, 45% to 70% of them were civilians.
